Prepare your classroom by turning your ideas into actions, Participants will engage in a "metamorphosis" of their own materials, taking a seedling of an idea or an outdated course module and systematically rebuilding it using modern pedagogical strategies, inclusive design principles, and data-driven alignment. Participants will evaluate existing curriculum models to identify gaps in alignment, inclusivity, and engagement so that you can create or revise curriculum that can be used in the classroom immediately.
Participants will work closely with an instructor in order to promote effective teaching for the current or upcoming school year and will receive personalized feedback, helping to refine goals and finalize a professional implementation plan tailored to their specific teaching context. Participants have the option to refresh existing lessons and curriculum or they can use this course to build brand new content. Participants first assignment will be to create a curriculum plan that needs to be approved by the instructor. After approval participants will be free to create their new or revised curriculum while checking in with their instructor and receiving instructor feedback as they build their curriculum. Participants will work towards a culminating project that details their planning and preparation including a final portfolio that brings it all together. This course does not limit participants to a specific subject matter – participants are free to choose the area of curriculum that they feel would benefit from a redesign. Participants can focus on the need for new resources, textbooks, lesson plans or modify their curriculum in order to align to new standards.
